Hub -Canolbwynt

This website focuses on the Heritage Grant which benefited 54 projects in the RDP area of Carmarthenshire. It also acknowledges the hard work of the local volunteer groups and provides a link to their completed projects so that visitors and locals can access their heritage information.

The projects were run by the Tywi Centre in Llandeilo, which has administered a range of Heritage Lottery Fund and Rural Development Plan projects in the last 5 years. The Manager of the Tywi Centre is Nell Hellier, the Heritage Grant Project Officer is Emyr Price and the Project Monitoring Assistant is Ruth Rees. The scheme started in May 2011 and finished in December 2014.

The Grant Scheme was part funded by Natural Resources Wales, Rural Development Plan, Welsh Government, Carmarthenshire County Council and in kind by The National Trust.

The aim of the Heritage Grant was -

  1. To promote and conserve the heritage and culture of rural Carmarthenshire.
  2. To improve the quality of life for rural communities and to instil a sense of place.

To qualify for a grant of between £1,000 and £15,000 the projects had to be managed by community based, not for profit groups, charities or trusts and had to provide at least 20% of the overall cost in match funding. The pages that follow give a brief summary of each project, its location, some images and contact links.

You will also find very good links to all sorts of places, buildings, walks and visits that are part of the natural and built Heritage of Carmarthenshire on the following websites.
